My son was in town from NJ and wanted to eat soul food on his birthday. We were surprised and embarrassed to learn about Big Mama's. I've driven past this plaza countless times on my way to VA appointments. We were glad we came here to this local minority owned small business to get some down-home cooking. My son and daughter had ox tails, and I had grilled catfish! The food was GREAT and perfectly seasoned. We arrived about 30 minutes before closing, but we're allowed to enjoy our meal in the bakery area after closing!

Bay-bee.... Big Mama's is it!!!! My child lives in Augusta and wanted a home cooked meal. This was a referral and I was overly pleased. Note- I am NOT a huge fan of soul food but ate every single bit of my food!! Prices are reasonable. Food was seasoned well. No complaints.

Through community outreach for work, I supported the Great Commission Church as they fed the community. The minister provided 100 hot meals to members of the Augusta community. There were workers in uniform, people from the behavioral health community, and a campaign committee to all stop in and receive a free meal. The pastor evangelized to those who were interested. The customers expressed their gratitude and gave positive regards for their meals.

Absolutely fabulous! I got the fried squash and I believe it was the best I’ve ever eaten! The. breading texture was similar to tempura-style. Great texture and crunch in addition to fantastic flavor. I also got macaroni & cheese - it was so, so good! Third was black eyed peas -again they were perfect! I struggled to decide which one to take a bite from next - every bite so good!. I actually also got stewed tomatoes but they were tepid. Flavor was divine but I like my food very hot. Very positive experience - I plan to be back soon! (This was my 1st visit.)

Had a fried pork chop that was terrific. My 2 sides were okay. Would return to try other items. Tasted the chicken and was again happy with it. There is a bakery/desert shop that is part of the same facility that is worth poking your head into.
