We love this area of Aiken and ride on our motorcycles from Columbia on adventure. Mixed feelings on Southbound. Ordered Uncle John's chicken salad sandwich with Mac and cheese. Mac and cheese awesome, bread on the sandwich awesome... the actual chicken salad, very bland. Also had the Southbound burger with fries. Fries awesome, bun was awesome but the actual burger and pulled pork was bland and the whole burger is small. Arby's has much more flavor. I'm sure the quality of the ingredients are better at Southbound... but the blandness, small portions and high prices has crossed this place off my list permanently. Waitress and overall service was great, atmosphere great. Food not worth half of what I paid.

Atmosphere was aight. Food was downright horrible.explain how not being asked and no warning and still got served rare groundbeef in a burger HEALTH CODE VIOLATION. Waitress did not wash her hands at all before serving food after eating their own. HEALTH CODE VIOLATION PT.2. Onion rings were soggy. Fries were feeling like thawed and warmed up. Had to get a too go to prove it. All for 140$

Absolute huge shout out to Brian for making The Garcia for me the way it used to be made back in the day 🙏🏿🥹🤟🏿. The look in your eye when I mentioned that the old recipe was priceless. The sandwich you made for me was nothing short of amazing. Also thanks to Dean for being a great bartender and making sure I was always good. Nice to meet you Brian! Keep being you brother.

We went there after church for lunch on a Sunday. My husband got the pulled pork plate and I got the smoked chicken plate. He had coleslaw with his and I had green beans with mine. The food came out very quickly, and was very hot, the green beans were great, and he said the coleslaw was very good as well. My chicken didn't seem to have much flavor to it, but the sauces they have there were fantastic! He said the pulled pork was good, and he like the sauce as well. My biggest problem with this place is that the portions are so small. I never finish a meal, especially at a barbecue place, but when my plate came out, it had about a half a cup of green beans, and about a cup of smoked chicken. And that was it. There was no bread, no frills, and the plates only came with one side each. Each. My husband was actually still hungry when we left the restaurant, which is not a good place to be. We spent $30 for the two of us which is not bad, but I think they would do better to either add another side with their plates or serve bigger portions. I will say that the service was great, the people were very friendly, and I loved the decor and the overall vibe of the restaurant though.

I am always on the lookout for great baroque joints in my area and recently tried Southbound Smokehouse in downtown Aiken. Atmosphere is cool and I wish I was there to dine in to check out more of the local vibe but unfortunately I only had time for grabbing a quick take-out dinner and head home. However, the food was excellent! Pulled pork bowl is seasoned to perfection and the collard greens were second place only to home cooked ones, which says quite a lot. The hash and rice could have used a little love but its nearly impossible to beat my own recipe handed down from my own father. It wasn't bad. In fact, it was pretty good, but mine own will always be my #1 for that item in particular. Even the "Fleetwood Mac n Cheese" (love their creative musically inspired dish names), was excellent! One last thing, I worked at Sweet Potatoes Kitchen for years in Savannah, GA and they have Banana Pudding so good it was recognized on the food network show, Man Vs Food years ago, so its hard to live up to that unbelievable flavor in a timeless desert such as Banana Pudding but Southbound Smokehouse does not leave you wanting in that meal finishing, sweet-tooth fullfilling, menue item either. I honestly cannot wait to go back for seconds, so to speak! You won't be disappointed either.
