We stopped at the Purple Hull for a quick lunch on our way home from Augusta. Nice homestyle cooking and the staff was very friendly. I enjoyed their meatloaf along with mashed potatoes & gravy. My beautiful wife also had the meatloaf with cabbage and okra & tomatoes. She liked the sides but didn't like the meatloaf as much as I did.

This place is a GEM! I love the mom-and-pop feel. Locally run by family members. Warm and friendly service and more importantly the food is delicious. Deserts are so yummy! Not too sweet very creamy. Will definitely be back.

The Purple Bull is in an unassuming building that is easy to drive past and miss. Don't miss it! The food here is delicious! Some of the best southern food I have had in a long time. The sweet potato souffle was perfect, not too sweet, not to spiced but just right. And the pan fried pork chops were amazing! Very well spiced and not dry at all. The okra.was perfectly cooked, the jalapeño corn bread was great! My son had the cat fish and it was some of the best I have had in Augusta. Over all an amazing restaurant!!

Today was my first time to The Purple Hull. My mom and I loved it. Mom got the fried chicken, Lima beans and mashed potatoes and hush puppies. The chicken was crispy and flavorful on the outside and juicy on the inside. The gravy on the mashed potatoes was delicious and the potatoes were creamy. The Lima beans needed a little salt, but they were good too. I got the fried shrimp, grits, cheesy ranch potatoes and hush puppies. The fried shrimp was huge and lightly breaded. The grits were creamy and I didn’t have to add any seasoning to them. The cheesy ranch potatoes were not my cup of tea, but only because it had a strong ranch flavor and I don’t love ranch like that. The hush puppies were good as well and they have fatback at the counter where you pay that you can add to your plate. My mom got the sweet tea. I’m not a huge sweet tea person, but theirs was so good. The restaurant is small, but there was plenty of room and the staff was super friendly and helpful. We will definitely be going back.

Really enjoyed the hot bar "ready to serve" option. Chicken and sides were very good. Nice lady at the register. Would go back again.
