Lovely park in Aiken. Grounds are well kept with easy to follow paths. Numerous benches throughout to sit and enjoy both the weather and the natural environment. Outdoor theater, duck ponds and plenty of turtles. A few fountains to watch as well.

A 14-acre public garden estate which was originally a 19th-century farm purchased on March 10, 1897, by wealthy New York businessman Charles Oliver Iselin for $1,650. He and his wife, Hope Goddard Iselin, transformed the land into a magnificent winter resort oasis. Upon Hope’s death in April 1970 at the age of 102, she bequeathed the estate to the public. It officially opened as a public park later that year. The Iselins built an elaborate, large winter mansion on the estate. Following Hope Iselin's death, the house fell into severe disrepair, and repairing it was deemed too expensive. Following the instructions of her bequest, the main residence was demolished. Today, beautiful fountains, sculptures, and overflowing flower pots sit directly within the brick outline of the mansion's original foundation, creating a unique structural footprint for visitors to walk through. Hope Iselin was known internationally as the "great lady of racing". Her former carriage house is now the Aiken Thoroughbred Racing Hall of Fame and Museum, which honors 40 champion racehorses that trained locally. This rambling and dignified property hosts a glorious array of tree types, strollings paths and water features. Beloved by generations of residents, it's well maintained and also has several historical structures on site that serve various purposes. This is one of the top wedding venue locations in the region. On the day we visited, it was quiet and we had the whole place to ourselves for a couple of hours. It was just perfect!

Found this little gem while out driving with my ex. It's a great place for walking, talking, getting some sun, and sightseeing. So beautiful. I was so busy enjoying the fresh air and scenery that I didn't get a lot of pictures
